Job Summary:
The General Manager of Letlhakeng Nature Park will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations and management of the nature park, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest experiences, conservation efforts, and financial sustainability. The General Manager will report directly to the Village Trust Board and will lead a team of staff members to maintain the park's facilities, wildlife, and guest services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the park's conservation efforts, guest experiences, and revenue generation.
- Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the park, including wildlife management, maintenance of facilities, resource allocation and coordination of activities within the park such as game drives, walks, photography, cycling etc.
- Guest Services: Ensure high-quality guest experiences by managing the restaurant, camp sites, and other guest amenities within the park.
- Wildlife Conservation: Work closely with conservation experts to monitor and protect the various species of game animals within the park.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the park's budget, monitor financial performance, and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, and supervise park staff members, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring high standards of service.
- Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with the local community, stakeholders, and partners by representing Letlhakeng Nature Park at community events, meetings and conferences to promote the park's mission and objectives.
- Health and Safety: Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of guests, staff, and wildlife. opportunities.
- Environmental Sustainability: Implement sustainable practices to minimise the park's environmental impact and promote conservation efforts.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports for the Village Trust Board on the park's performance, challenges, and opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management, Tourism Conservation, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Sales and/ Marketing or related field.
- At least 3 years proven experience in managing nature parks, wildlife reserves, or similar outdoor attractions.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
- Knowledge of wildlife conservation practices, guest services, and financial management.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, guests, community members, government agencies and partners.
- Passion for nature conservation, sustainability, and outdoor recreation.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
Remuneration:
- Salary is performance based with a basic salary ( P9000- P15000 per month)
