Our Reserve
Letlhakeng Nature Reserve, proudly owned by the Motlhware Community Development Trust, spans 1,238 hectares in the scenic village of Letlhakeng, Kweneng West. Under the community-based natural resources management (CBNRM) initiative, our reserve is dedicated to facilitating community development through sustainable income generation activities derived from the natural resources in the area. Visitors can immerse themselves in the breathtaking landscapes and encounter diverse wildlife, while knowing their visit supports local empowerment and ecological preservation.
Our Trust
Motlhware Community Development Trust is committed to promoting sustainable development through responsible stewardship of our natural resources. Guided by a comprehensive management plan aligned with governmental legal frameworks, the Trust ensures ecologically sustainable stocking rates, effective waste disposal, and climate change adaptation strategies. Supported by funding from the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) through the National Environmental Fund (NEF), our initiatives not only preserve the environment but also enhance the livelihood of the local community, making every visit to Letlhakeng Nature Reserve a step towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
